Mr. Gumbel is best known for his guidance and leadership in many early stage businesses at Citicorp, First Bank System (Now US Bank), EDS and VISA.
He has held the Top Executive Management Position in a Top 10 Domestic Card Issuer Business, a Top 5 Domestic Bankcard Acquirer Business, 2 of the 3 Largest Acquiring Processor Businesses, Largest Domestic Bank Card Branded Commercial Card Businesses and Largest Mobile POS Manufacturer in the World.
Knowledge
Mr. Gumbel’s knowledge covers all aspects of Business Development and Processing for Private Label Credit Cards, General Purpose (VISA, MasterCard, Diner’s Club) Credit and Debit Cards, Debit and Credit Card Acquiring and Issuing. Mr. Gumbel’s Knowledge has also been shared as he has acted as an advisor to some of the most successful Banks, Credit Card Processors, Airlines, ISO’s and POS Equipment Manufacturers in the World. His knowledge of the Legal and Regulatory Communities include Chapter 11/Chapter 7 Bankruptcy as both a member of the Creditors Committee and advisor of the Petitioner and work as the senior card industry member of a Receiver’s Team in the Card Acquiring Industry.
Experience
Mr. Gumbel’s experience while at Citicorp included Private Label Credit Cards with National Retailers through Regional Retailers and Small Single Store Operations, spanning Issuing, Risk Management, Marketing, Acquiring, Service and Portfolio Factoring. Additional experiences at Citicorp included Executive Roles at Diner’s Club and Citicorp Retail Services managing Risk, Operations, Technology and Service.
Mr. Gumbel was a Group Head at First Bank System (Now US Bank) where the Presidents of the Consumer Credit Card, Commercial Credit Card, Bankcard Acquiring and Agent Bank Businesses reported to him.
Mr. Gumbel was the President of EDS’s Electronic Commerce Strategic Business Unit where the Card Processing Business Head, the Switch and ATM Business Head, the EDI Business Head and the Business Head of the Home Banking Product JV with US West and France Telecom reported to him.
Mr. Gumbel was the Founding Chairman, President and CEO of VITAL Processing Services a Joint Venture between VISA USA and Total System Services.
Mr. Gumbel is the founding Principal at Payment Insight and has been involved with each of the companies listed as Clients of the Payment Insight. Mr. Gumbel acted as President and CEO of WAY Systems from October 2006 through December 2008 as WAY became the largest supplier of Mobile Transaction POS Terminals in the World.
In his most recent role which he left in February of 2016, Mr. Gumbel was EVP & COO of ACI Worldwide where he managed the P&L for Large Financial Institutions, Retail Establishments and Community Financial Services. ACI provides software and services to 24 of the 25 largest banks in the US and 21 of the 25 largest banks in the world for mission critical delivery. ACI provides software and services to more than 200 of the largest 400 retailers in the US including Apple, Target and McDonalds. ACI provides services and software to more than 1,100 Community Banks and Credit Unions across the US for Mobile, Online Banking, Risk Management, Bill Presentment and Payment.
